Teaching Term Appointment Position in Environmental Science–Biology

Grenfell Campus, Memorial University, is located within Western Newfoundland in Corner Brook, an area of great natural beauty in close proximity to Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Campus has a population of more than 1,300 students and emphasizes innovative approaches to teaching and learning, research and engagement. POSITION: Environmental Science–Biology

A 9-month teaching term appointment in the Environmental Science program of the School of Science and the Environment, Grenfell Campus, commencing August 1, 2025, and ending April 30, 2026. This position supports the teaching of courses throughout the Fall and Winter semesters of 2025–2026. Duties will include teaching the following suite of biology courses: first year biology (BIOL 1001 and 1002; lectures only), vertebrate biology (BIOL 2210; lecture and lab), and invertebrate biology (BIOL 2122; lecture and lab); teaching assignments are subject to change. Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. (or near completion) in Biology or Environmental Science, or a related area. Applications should include: (a) a cover letter (2 page maximum); (b) a curriculum vitae;

(c) a teaching/mentoring dossier (5 page maximum) demonstrating teaching experience, approaches and effectiveness in teaching, and the incorporation of equity, diversity, inclusion and anti-racism (EDI-AR) principles into teaching practices; and (d) the names and complete contact information of three referees. Gaps in career history/research history can exist for any number of reasons (i.e.: family responsibilities, sick leave, settlement, etc.).
