Research Director, Carleton University’s Centre for Conservation Solutions

Carleton University’s new Centre for Conservation Solutions invites applications for a Research Director. This new program is a collaboration between faculty in the Biology and Integrated Science departments at Carleton University and research scientists at Environment and Climate Change Canada’s National Wildlife Research Centre. The program will undertake research to create tools for more effective nature-based solutions that deliver co-benefits for biodiversity, climate adaptation, and people’s health and well-being.

The Research Director will be responsible for coordinating projects within the centre, supporting graduate students, assisting with reporting and funding applications, and providing technical support of equipment and facilities. A successful candidate will also have room to maintain a research program within the centre’s theme of nature-based solutions.

The position will begin December, 2024, but start date is negotiable. The position 2 years, with potential for renewal depending on fit and performance. Preference will be given to candidates based the majority of the year in Ottawa. Salary is commensurate with experience, in the range of $70-90000 per year

Qualifications

Applicants must have Ph.D., or M.Sc. with significant leadership experience, in conservation science, biology, or a relevant field. A successful applicant will have demonstrable experience with research leadership, as well as excellence in student mentoring.
