The University of Windsor invites applications from outstanding individuals for the position of Department Head in the Department of Integrative Biology. The University is seeking an accomplished biology teacher and researcher whose leadership abilities and interpersonal skills will bring an integrative approach to a diverse department. The position will start no later than July 1, 2020, for a term of up to 5 years with the option for renewal. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

The newly formed Department of Integrative Biology has 14 faculty and a large undergraduate and graduate student complement. The department maintains a strong research and teaching profile with special expertise in Ecology, Evolution, Genetics, Genomics, Neuroscience, and Physiology, with undergraduate degrees in Biological Sciences and Behaviour, Cognition and Neuroscience (BCN). The Department has strong core facilities including genetics, genomics, transcriptomics, flow cytometry, imaging, and proteomics and is directly connected to the University of Windsor central animal care facility. The Department has a close association with the Great Lakes Institute for Environmental Research (GLIER), with many faculty members cross-appointed to this research institute.

This successful candidate will hold a faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, with tenure. Preference will be given to candidates with previous administrative experience whose activities complement and strengthen research programs and teaching specializations within the Integrative Biology Department. Successful candidates will be expected to mount a productive and integrative research program, obtain external funding, and participate actively in graduate training and undergraduate teaching.
